Leadership Team

Gretchen Bowman, Client Attorney(Acting Director)

Ms. Bowman joined the staff at NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2009. As Client Attorney, her practice includes representing borrowers in all stages of the foreclosure process including mediations, motions for post-judgment relief, and defense against post-judgment evictions. She has also litigated Fair Housing, Civil Rights, and Consumer Protection claims in front of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission. Prior to joining NHS of Greater Cleveland, Ms. Bowman worked for The Housing Advocates, where she practiced foreclosure defense. Ms. Bowman holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in Political Economy and a M.Sc. from the London School of Economics. She earned her J.D. from the Michigan State University College of Law in 2003 and is admitted to practice in Ohio and California. Mahria Harris, Director of HomeOwnership Services

Ms. Harris joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2004. As Director  of HomeOwnership Services, she is responsible for oversight of our Homebuyer Education Program, Financial Capability Counseling, and foreclosure prevention counseling in our HomeOwnership Preservation Program. Prior to joining NHS of Greater Cleveland, Ms. Harris worked in the non-profit sector for over seven years in Community Development. Keith Davis, Financial Capability Counselor

Mr. Davis joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2015. As Financial Capability Counselor, he helps clients to take control of their financial futures. Prior to joining the NHS of Greater Cleveland Team, Keith worked in the financial services and mortgage industry for over 10 years of experience in the field and has received Credit Smart Training for Housing Professionals and Trended Credit Data through Counselor’s Corner. He has acquired CEUs in Community Financial Centers training for Financial Coaches; Regulating the Debt Collection Industry: CFPB Priorities and What Can be Done to Ensure Strong Rules; CFPB FinEx for light-touch financial education on credit-card debt; Building Skills for Financial Confidence; and Clients Seeking Rental Housing. Becky Geier, Reverse Mortgage Counselor

Ms. Geier joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2008.  Ms. Geier has been involved with NeighborWorks® America and its development for over 25 years. Throughout this time she has received training and certification in 23 areas of home ownership counseling, including but not limited to Reverse Mortgage, Advanced HECM, and Credit Counseling. Ms. Geier’s experience also includes Community Lending, Loan Servicing, Financial Fitness, Project Management, Home Ownership Counseling, and Foreclosure Prevention among others. Ms. Geier also has more than 20 years of neighborhood organizing experience in her community, where she currently volunteers to help seniors. Breaunna Goldsby, Receptionist

Ms. Goldsby joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2016.  Ms. Goldsby has a strong background in customer service and retail and is working to complete an Associates Degree in Human Services, with the plan of becoming a mental health counselor. Ms. Goldsby has a demonstrated ability to make a positive impact in the lives of others through her work. Bridget Holmes, Customer Service Associate

Ms. Holmes joined NHS of Greater Cleveland as an AmeriCorps VISTA Member in July of 2016. As a VISTA Member in the Affordable Housing and Development program, Ms. Holmes built capacity for the NHS of Greater Cleveland Lending Department and Community Land Trust Program to provide affordable housing to low-to-moderate income families in Northeast Ohio. Prior to joining NHS, Ms. Holmes’s work experience has been in finance and accounts receivable. Ms. Holmes is looking forward to the opportunity to combine her work experience with her education in social work in effort to increase home ownership comprehension, achievement, and retention for low income families and communities. Jose Lopez, Lending Specialist

Mr. Lopez Joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2015. As a member of the Lending Team, he assists customers in applying for different lending programs offered by NHS of Greater Cleveland. Prior to joining NHS, Jose’ worked in the mortgage banking industry for over 15 years. He brings years of experience in default resolution, loss mitigation, foreclosure prevention and community outreach. Terry May, Construction Specialist

Mr. May joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2014 as a Construction Specialist where he is responsible for inspecting and processing rehabilitation construction escrow accounts. Terry has over 11 years of experience in the construction management field, last serving as a Construction Manager at Cleveland Action to Support Housing (CASH). Phoebe McIntosh, Receptionist

Ms. McIntosh joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in March 2018. Prior to being employed by NHS, she worked with AARP in their Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). This was a program designed to assist senior citizen find either part-time, or full time employment. Ms. McIntosh had been retired for six years after working for Progressive Insurance. Stephanie Jones-Melton, Foreclosure Specialist

Ms. Jones-Melton joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2017 as a Foreclosure Specialist. She is responsible for providing foreclosure prevention counseling services. Mary Nighswander, Operations Manager

Ms. Nighswander joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2016 as a member of our Lending Team. Prior to joining NHS, Ms. Nighswander has worked the last 20+ years in the banking/mortgage industry. Her background includes title/escrow work, loan processing, loan closings and underwriting. Ms. Nighswander received her BA in Political Science from Cleveland State University. Elizabeth Sanchez, HomeOwnership Center Manager

Ms. Sanchez joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in 2003 and has brought a diverse set of skills, including the ability to development and administer a bilingual homeownership program. Ms. Sanchez is also responsible for conducting pre-purchase homebuyer workshops, developing credit repair and home buying action plans for individual counseling sessions and maintaining the schedule of appointments and client records for participants in the HomeOwnership Center. Ms. Sanchez has been in the non-profit field for over 13 years with sustainable success and career advancement. Leonard Washington, Construction Manager

Mr. Washington joined NHS of Greater Cleveland in August of 2017, having worked for many years as a housing inspector for the City of South Euclid, and as a business owner and construction manager at Beyond Construction. Mr. Washington has managed off-site contractors in 37 counties in Ohio, with responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of bank- and privately owned residential and commercial properties. In his role as Construction Manager for NHS of Greater Cleveland, Mr. Washington works very closely with our Land Trust Program team, creating and managing the property acquisition pipeline and subsequent property development. He also provides construction and property management, develops proforma for construction, conducts lead and asbestos risk assessments. Mr. Washington is a certified PHII Home Inspector and a certified InterNACHI home inspector; he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Development from North Texas State University.
