![]() Related ItemsContact Us Donate Now FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Media Contacts: Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland Appoints New Executive DirectorLou Tisler To Lead Cleveland Group in NeighborWorks® America First Ever State-wide Foreclosure Prevention Initiative To Be a Force for Positive Change Both Locally and NationallyCleveland, Ohio - Lou Tisler has been named Executive Director of Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland (NHSGC), a chartered member of the NeighborWorks® Network, a national network of 235 member organizations that build safe, affordable housing, provide homeownership and financial education, and spur economic development. Tisler joined (NHSGC) from First Suburbs Development Council. In his new position, Tisler will work closely with NeighborWorks® America, the national organization, on a new foreclosure prevention initiative in Ohio. In the last five years, NeighborWorks® organizations have generated more than $8.5 billion in reinvestment and helped more than 500,000 families of modest means purchase or improve their homes or secure safe, decent rental or mutual housing. "I am honored to lead an organization that has such an impressive legacy of dedication to helping homeowners," said Tisler. "Joining NHS of Greater Cleveland gives me an opportunity to help tackle the obstacles of home ownership and preservation at all levels, including education and counseling, starting with the homeowners of Cleveland. Being a part of the NeighborWorks® network gives us the resources to take on this important issue both nationally and at the grassroots level." Tisler's previous experience also includes five years at with United Labor Agency, Inc., where he was responsible for the Community Development Block Grant Program and the Westown Community Development Corporation which he helped found and later served as President of the Board. He also serves on the board of the Center for Community Solutions and the Cleveland Bridge Builders and has served on Mayor Jane Campbell's Transition Subcommittee and the Mayor's Building and Housing Advisory Committee. Tisler was chosen by Crain's Cleveland Business as one of the "40 up-and-coming professionals under 40" in 2001 and highlighted by Inside Business as "One-2-Watch" in 2005. "NeighborWorks® America is working to identify the most common causes of foreclosure and deploy effective prevention and intervention strategies in Ohio, which is ranked number one in the country in foreclosures," said Paul Poston, NeighborWorks® Director for the Great Lakes district. "Tisler brings the leadership qualities, strategic skills and entrepreneurial vision that will help us address this crisis." Tisler is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a MBA in Management and Labor Relations.
