State of Ohio Partners with Non-Profit Agencies to Deliver New Resources for Stuggling HomeownersRestoring Stability - Also known as the Hardest Hit FundingStarting Monday, September 27, 2010, Ohioans struggling to pay their mortgages can apply for assistance under the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Hardest Hit Fund. Ohio has been awarded $320 million, to be administered by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) to help 26,000 families who are at high risk of mortgage default or foreclosure. Through Restoring Stability: A Save the Dream Ohio Initiative, the State of Ohio has designed four programs to help homeowners who have a temporary or permanent reduction in income. Ideally these programs may be able to help homeowners who have experienced a financial hardship stay in their homes or exit their homes gracefully and avoid a foreclosure that could seriously damage their credit rating. Ohio's Hardest Hit Fund program called Restoring Stability has four components:

Please note: If you are interested in receiving assistance from a counselor at NHS of Greater Cleveland, be sure to select “Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland” under the Agency menu. Once your profile information is complete, you’ll need to complete the seven-step online application for assistance. While it’s not mandatory to complete all of these steps, the more information you can share the faster and more accurately assistance can be provided. The first four steps will register you in OHFA’s system and connect you with a housing counseling agency, while the remaining three steps contain critical information for OHFA to be able to help you.
